0. (NR) C: straw, vigorous stream, N: toasty, brioche, yeasty, stone fruits, P: med fine mousses, stone fruits, almond skins, a bit short - disappears on the palate, a blend. (Dom Perignon 2003)

1. (DM) C: med russet maroon, med rim N: cherries, earth/mushroom, funky, slight oxidative/aged note , lifted red berries  P: aged, dark cherries, ultrafine tannins, good length & balance, earthy/compost note, finishing dry with nutskin bitterness (2002 Guy Castagbier Clos St Denis)

2. (MJ) C: med maroon, med wide rim garnet N: raspberry, restrained, marzipan, very slight rhubarb - acid P: very fine satiny tannins, raspberry, a touch hot, rhubarb, good longer length, dry finish (2006 Pierre Amiot Aux Charmes 1er Cru)

3. (DC) C: med russet red, med rim touch brickish N: restrained but lifted raspberry, strawberry, a touch funky P: rounded, raspberry, dark cherries, a bit more concentration, a touch hot, ultrafine silky tannins, good long length still primary, dark chocolate bitterness. (2006 Bertagna Clos St Denis)

4. (RP) C: slightly deeper russet, med rim garnet N: restrained, hawthorn, red cherries,  P: sweet red fruits, touch of stalks (but in a good way), rounded, satiny very fine tannins, concentration on palate, good length, extracted? (2005 Confuron-Cotetidot Lavaut St-Jacques 1er Cru)

5. (ST) C: Slightly deeper russet, slight med wider rim,orangey tinged N: restrained, cherry, hints of plum, hints of funky undergrowth, clayey P: sweet fruit core, elegant yet powerful dark cherries, a bit hot, alcohol, good length (2004 Louis Jadot Clos St Jacques)


6. (ST) C: redder russet, med-tightish rim, garnet N: complex, spices, cherries/raspberry, undergrowth, slightly perfumed/cardamom, hint of whole bunch/stalky notes P: sweet fruit, very fine but dense tannins, extraction, long length,  cherries, bark spices (oak?), hot finish. (2004 Pierre Damoy Chambertin) 

7. (ST) C: old gold, orange N: caramel, marmalade, toasted bread P: caramel, toast, savoury, sweet fruit, marmalade, honey nougat but good acid still, grip! (1986 Blain-Gagnard Caillerets 1er Cru) 

8. (ST) C: gold, glowing, N: ripe peaches, tropical notes, hints of wet rice grains, P: sweetish fruit, mouth-filling, ripe stone fruits, tropical hints, touch of honey, longish finish. Lovely WB! (2003 Jean-Marc Pillot Cailleret)
